Why I'm not voting
I love politics. I love the dance that politicians do to make this country that I love work. Politics are like a soap opera that effects all of us. its great. But this year I'm not going to vote, there are a lot of possible reasons for my decision but one real reason. I'll go over those reasons now. The most likely reason would be that I am an American and as an American I have the right and almost the responsibility to not vote. This country is surrounded by politics, someone is talking about 24 hours a day on TV, but we have a thirty percent voter turnout, I'm doing my part to keep that statistic alive.
Secondly I am living in North Jersey currently and I am registered to vote in South Jersey. Sure I could fill out an absentee ballot, but I don't have the foresight or the stamps to do that.
Thirdly, everyone running is a negative asshole. (As I'm writing this I'm watching an ad for Joe Liberman attacking Ned Lamont for using negative ads, sheesh.) Republicans invoking 9/11, when that didn't work they say Democrats want to raise taxes, the Bush tax cuts are going to be in effect till 2010 so nothing is getting rolled back for awhile, calm down rich people. The Dems did with Katrina what the Republicans did with 9/11. And they have no spine, when someone talks tough they silence them, or they bring in someone to run who's more conservative than the Republican they're running against.
The real reason I'm not going to vote is simple. Julia said she was going to convince me to vote and never did. If the country goes to hell in a hand basket and its because I didn't vote, then we'll all (the 2 people who read this blog)know who to blame. Julia Meinwald.
